Sending Amount

The daily limit is up to $2,500 (Canadian equivalent). You can send more than one transfer per day, as long as you don't exceed this limit.

Estimated Transfer Amount

The beneficiary bank may convert these funds if they're not in the currency of the recipient country and/or the recipient's account. Also, some currencies may not be available for transfers to certain countries or foreign banks, and transfers sent in these currencies may be returned. Please contact your recipient or the beneficiary bank to check which currencies are acceptable before you send your transfer.

The recipient may get less than the amount you specify here, since the beneficiary bank and/or its intermediaries may deduct charges to convert the funds.

Estimated Funds Available Date

This is the approximate date when the money will be available for the recipient at his or her bank. It will depend on the date and time you submit your transaction, as well as the time needed for the beneficiary/intermediary banks to process the transfer.

If you're sending money in either Canadian or U.S. dollars, this date will be approximately:

-  the following business day, if you submit your request by 4:00 p.m. E.T.
-  2 business days later, if you submit your request after 4:00 p.m. E.T.

If you're sending money in foreign currencies, this date will be approximately:

- 2 business days later, if you submit your request by 4:00 p.m. E.T.
- 3 business days later, if you submit your request after 4:00 p.m. E.T.

For payments made on weekends or holidays (in either Canada or the country receiving the funds), add an extra business day to the processing time.

For example:

Transfers submitted on Saturday or Sunday:

U.S. or Canadian dollars--estimated to be available the following Tuesday
Foreign currency--estimated to be available the following Wednesday

Transfers submitted on Monday:

US or Canadian dollars--estimated to be available the following Tuesday
Foreign currency--estimated to be available the following Wednesday

If three business days or more have passed since the date you sent the transfer, and you've confirmed that the recipient has still not received the funds, we can investigate the transfer for you. There is a fee for investigations.

Transfers Fee

Other charges may be deducted from the transfer amount by the beneficiary bank and/or its intermediaries.

Full Name

Please include this person's first and last names, in plain text only (i.e., no accents or special characters), to a maximum of 35 characters (including spaces). The name entered in this space must exactly match the name under which the recipient is registered at the beneficiary bank -- otherwise, the beneficiary bank may return the payment. Before sending your transfer, please check with the recipient to make sure you have his or her name exactly as it appears on beneficiary bank documents.

Also, please be sure to enter your information in the appropriate spaces. For example, the recipient's name must be entered in this space only, and account information must not be entered into the spaces intended for the recipient's address.

Account Number (IBAN/CLABE)

Account number information must be entered in this space only; please do not enter information regarding account numbers in any other space.

For transfers to Europe and certain other countries, you'll need the International Bank Account Number (IBAN). You can find a complete list of these countries in the IBAN Registry on the SWIFT website.

For the CLABE, used in Mexico, the account number length is 18 digits; for the IBAN, the account number length varies depending on the country.

Both the CLABE and the IBAN must be entered without spaces.

ABA Routing Number / SWIFT BIC

The ABA (American Bankers Association) Routing Number is a 9-digit identifier code assigned to each bank in the United States.

The SWIFT BIC is an international identifier code of either 8 or 11 characters. Sometimes, the last 3 characters of an 11-character BIC will be " XXX." In these cases, the 11-character BIC is considered identical to the same BIC with only the first 8 characters. For example, the BIC for Royal Bank of Canada may be written as either ROYCCAT2 or ROYCCAT2XXX.

A bank may have a number of different BICs, but some of them may not work for money transfers. Please make sure the eighth character of the BIC you use is not "1"; if it is, your transfer will be returned. For example, the BICs used by Barclays Bank include BARCGB22, BARCGB22XXX and BARCGB2105G; transfers addressed to BARCGB22 and BARCGB22XXX will work, but transfers to BARCGB2105G will be returned.

If you know the bank identifier code, enter it in this space, then select "Search" to make sure that the code is valid and active.

Recipient Nickname

Use the recipient's first and last name, or any name that will help you remember who this person is.

To Top To Top

Type of Transfer

You can choose:

  • "Money Transfer to Bank Account" to have the money deposited directly into the Recipient's account; or
  • "Pay Upon ID" to have the Recipient pick the money up from a specific branch.

"Pay upon ID" is not available in every country. We strongly recommend checking beforehand with the Destination Bank to make sure this option is available. Otherwise, the Destination Bank may return your transfer, less any charges.

Reason for Transfer

In some cases, the destination or intermediary bank may ask us to provide the reason for your money transfer. If we need to contact you later for this additional information, your transfer could be delayed.
